This Rosewood and Brass Bound Tantalus arrived in the Gallery today and it is a Stunning Irish Antique Made and Retailed by William Mansfield which was a business at 89/90 Grafton Street Dublin which was a stunning store, featured in many Puplications and held the honour as Dressing Case Maker to The Lord Lieutenant of Ireland. It was an amazing and very upmarket store on Grafton Street and was frequented by the well heeled Aristocrats and Business owners of Dublin for Fancy Gifts and Luxury Items.
The double hinged lid opens to reveal a lined fitted interior to accomodate 4 Crystal Decanters which are all in place and in Good Condition bar one small chip to one decanter. Amazingly the original makers label has survived and the exterior of the box has a vivid Rosewood Patina and all brass is still intact.
